        Please send in your Spell-A-Thon money before Friday.  This Friday will be Free Dress for students who have turned in their money.  Thank you for all you are able to contribute.

        April hot lunch orders are due Tuesday.  There will be no tutoring this Wednesday, March 28.  I will resume tutoring next Wednesday and will continue after Easter Vacation.

Monday:  Write Spelling Words List #27 five times each;

        Reading Comprehension—“Bead after Bead”

        Math—“Yummy Toppings”

Tuesday:  Write Spelling Words List #27 three times each;

        Writing—“Dunk and Eat” sequencing

        Math—“So Many Choices” fractions

Wednesday:  Write Spelling Words List #27 two times each;

        Writing—“Tub Time” sequencing

        Math—“Hot Out of the Oven” fractions

Thursday:  Take a Practice Spelling Test List #27;

        Phonics—“Ready to Fish!”

        Math—“Make More Cookies!”

        The students did very well on the Spell-A-Thon test last Friday.  We had several 100%, and quite a few missed only one or two!  That is quite an achievement on a 40-word spelling test for first grade.  Now it is important that you collect and turn in all of the money which was pledged.  Please send it in with your child and turn it in to ME, not the office!!!  Each teacher is responsible for collecting and recording the money.  Whatever money is turned in will be sent to the office each day, but I need to make a notation on my record sheet.  Thank you very much, and thank the volunteers who made this exercise run smoothly!

        Also on the subject of collections…please send in your child’s Lent Mission Box this week or next week.  Thank you for all that you are able to contribute. 

        I still need one or two people to volunteer to help with Learning Centers on Thursdays.  So far it is usually Mrs. Quintana and I only so if you are able to help, please let me know. Thanks!

        This week we will continue to work on our Spell-A-Thon word list for homework.  There will be no additional pages assigned.  I would advise you to keep reviewing last week’s words as well.  This entire list is mainly made up of words we have already studied so hopefully this will be good review time.

        The Spell-A-Thon is this Friday, March 16.  Please be sure to send your child’s signed sponsor sheet that morning!  The test will be given the first thing and volunteers will grade the tests and compute the amount owed on the sponsor sheets.  That is why it is important to have the sponsor sheet in the morning—not after school or at lunchtime please!!!

Monday:  Write Spell-A-Thon words #21-40 five times each;

        Read a book at home

Tuesday:  Write Spell-A-Thon words #21-40 three times each;

        Read a book at home

Wednesday:  Write Spell-A-Thon words #21-40 two times each;

        Read a book at home

Thursday:  Take a Practice Spell-A-Thon test words #1-40 and write any word you miss five times each

Dear 1^st Graders and Parents,

        This is a list of words that your 1^st grader will be studying for the next two weeks.  The Spell-A-Thon test will be on Friday, March 16th.  The sponsor sheet was attached to the March Newsletter.  If you need another sponsor sheet, you can download one from the website or pick up one in the office.  We will be doing review activities and practice tests from now until March 16th.  That means we will not have our regular set of lists until after the Spell-A-Thon.  We also will have NO OTHER HOMEWORK ACTIVITY PAGES EVERY NIGHT!  Let’s focus on Spelling for these next two weeks!!!!!      Mrs. Kondrack
